“Pornoterrorista” – the art project Ann Jones at the VENUS BERLIN 2008
Pornography as the ultimate Metaphor for the American Dream
“Ann Jones – Pornoterrorista” is an synonym illustrating the disruption
between moral standards and actual action, the general readiness to
ensconce oneself in a world full of lies, thus saving you the trouble to
get to the bottom of things. Ann Jones is a fake, a lie, but the
project and her work is real. In fact, it is as real as Pornstar Gia
Paloma already has an Ann Jones painting hanging in her livingroom.
The Project itself is “pornopolitical”. The dispute with pornography and
pornstars respectively, seemingly wears out in itself, but if you look a
little closer, you can sense the horror and terror that lurk beyond the
surfaces.
The American Pornstar ist shown as a torn being, as a metaphor for two
opposite worlds. Here, the gap between appearance and being is as big as
nowhere else.
On the other hand, the intermingling of pictures of terror with pictures
of pornstar icons is also part of Ann Jones` Work. The play with truth,
lies, superficialityand deeper meaning is taken further again.
Apart from the fact, that the USA claim moral leadership in our world on
the one hand and on the other produce a billion dollar porno industry,
there is also the pure fascination of the prohibited – sexuality is
demonized, but it helps making money everywhere, so the popular culture
will always be trying to adopt elements of pornography. So, it is evil
and perverse, but often not really distinguishable from advertising and
certain TV formats anymore.
If you are talking about the pornindustry and therefore about glamour,
lies, stars, silicone, spotlights, the gutter, crack and a lot of money,
it is not hard to find a fine metaphor for the our general handling of
this world (or the mainstream-media world, maybe) and its realities.
Because our whole existence is only bearable since we keep the up
appearances, we do not look under the surfaces, we do not awake to the
horrors our civilisation was build upon. So, we walk the red carpet with
Brad and Angelina, we go to war with George and Mahmud, we cheer the
Tiger and Kobe and we keep concentrating intensely on appearances.
But we stand in blood and bones up to our knees. It is the blood of
people in Rwanda, Cambodia, Srebrenica, Armenia, Auschwitz…. Today we
are hard on the people that have nothing, not schools, nor anything
worth trading for something. Apart from their own body.
Politics? Pornography!
Ann Jones paintings shows the most superficial of all surfaces and
thereby still the outsiders of a world, that for some parts was fighting
for freedom of speech and minority rights since the early 70ties.
The pornstar is a symbol, a symbol for the disruption tearing this world
apart, for the freedom that could be possible, for the lies AND the
truth lurking beneath all superficialities.
Pornstars are fitting superheroes for the presence. Fatally wrong is the
one, who believes they only would fight the battle for sexual freedom.
Pornography? Politics!
The ficticious American artist with Armenian roots unifies all this in
person – “Ann Jones is LA PORNOTERRORISTA!”

– das Kunstprojekt
Ann Jones auf der Venus 2008
Auf der Venus 2008 präsentiert sich das Kunstprojekt „Ann Jones –
Pornoterrorista“ erstmals der Öffentlichkeit. Es werden großformatige
Ölbilder gezeigt, welche die mit Ikonen der Pornoindustrie spielen, aber
auch den Umgang der Gesellschaft mit Pornographie kommentieren sollen.
“Ann Jones – Pornoterrorista“ ist ein Synonym für die Zerrissenheit von
moralischem Anspruch und tatsächlichem Handeln, der allgemeinen
Bereitschaft sich in einer Welt voller Lügen einzurichten und sich die
Mühen zu sparen den Dingen auf den Grund zu gehen. „Ann Jones“ ist ein
Fake, eine Lüge, aber das Projekt und ihr Werk sind real. So real, das
Pornostar Gia Paloma schon ein Ann Jones Bild im Wohnzimmer hängen hat!
Das Projekt ist „pornopolitisch“. Die Auseinandersetzung mit
Pornographie, bzw. Pornostars erschöpft sich scheinbar teilweise in sich
selbst, aber wer ein wenig sucht, kann dem Schrecken und dem Horror auf
den Grund gehen der unter den Oberflächen lauert. Der amerikanische
Pornostar wird als ein zerrissenes Wesen portraitiert, als ein Abbild
zweier Gegenwelten. Denn kaum woanders ist der Gegensatz zwischen Schein
und Sein so groß wie hier.
Andererseits ist auch das direkte Vermischen von Bildern des Schreckens
und des Horrors mit Ikonen der Pornobranche ein Teil der Arbeit von Ann
Jones. Das Spiel mit Wahrheit, Lüge, Oberflächlichkeit und tieferem Sinn
wird immer weitergeführt.
Abgesehen von der Tatsache, daß die USA einerseits moralische Instanz in
der ganzen Welt beanspruchen und gleichzeitig eine milliardenschwere
Pornobranche hervorbringen, bleibt ganz generell die Faszination des
Verbotenen - offener Umgang mit Sexualität wird einerseits verteufelt,
andererseits will man auch im Mainstream von nackter Haut profitieren
und versucht so heimlich Pornographische Elemente in die Popkultur
überzuführen. Pornographie ist bösartig und pervers, aber in Teilen
schon jetzt nicht mehr von Werbung und bestimmten Fernsehformaten zu
unterscheiden.
Wenn es aber wie im Pornobusiness um Glamour und Lüge, Stars, Silikon,
Rampenlicht, Gosse, Crack und viel Geld geht, ist es nicht schwer eine
schöne Metapher für den allgemeinen Umgang der Welt (vielleicht eher der
Medienwelt) mit der Realität zu finden. Denn unsere gesamte Existenz ist
nur erträglich, weil wir den Schein wahren, uns nicht unter die
Oberfläche begeben und uns des Elends bewußt werden auf dem unsere
Zivilisation begründet ist. So stehen wir mit Brad und Angelina auf dem
roten Teppich, ziehen mit George und Mahmud in den Krieg, beschäftigen
uns mit Roger und Tiger und konzentrieren uns angestrengt auf den
Schein.
Dabei stehen wir bis zu den Knien in Blut, im Blut der Menschen in
Ruanda, Kambodscha, Srebrenica, Armenien, Auschwitz....Heute trifft es
die, die nichts haben, weder Schulen noch irghendetwas mit dem sie
wenigstens handeln könnten. Außer vielleicht ihrem Körper.
Politik? Pornographie!
Ann Jones Bilder bilden die oberflächlichste aller Oberflächen ab, und
dabei doch die Aussenseiter einer Welt, die sich teilweise schon seit
den 70er Jahren bemüht hat, für die Meinungsfreiheit und die Rechte von
Minderheiten zu kämpfen.
Der Pornostar ist ein Symbol, ein Symbol für die Zerrissenheit der Welt,
für die Freiheit die möglich wäre, für die Lüge UND für die Wahrheit die
unter allen Oberflächen lauert.
Pornostars sind die passenden Superhelden der Gegenwart. Im Irrtum ist
der, der glaubt sie kämpften nur den Kampf der sexuellen Befreiung.
Pornographie? Politik!
Die fiktive amerikanische Künstlerin mit armenischen Wurzeln vereint all
das in ihrer Person – „Ann Jones ist La Pornoterrorista!“.
Ann Jones ist ein Kunstprojekt.
